Card Shop Uses Webkinz for good Cause
NEW HARTFORD - Two murdered local police officers are being remembered today in the communities they served.
Colozzi's Party Card Shop in the New Hartford Shopping Center held a fund raiser in honor of Utica Police Officer Tom Lindsey and New Hartford Police Officer Joe Corr.
Officer Lindsey was shot and killed in the line of duty last April; Officer Corr about one year before that in February 2006. Colozzi's donated one dollar for every "webkinz" they sold over a two week period to the funds in honor of both officers.
"On top of that, we also solicited from customers a dollar a piece donation and we raised 550 dollars and we presented a check to both parties for $1,200,"said Sam Colozzi, owner.
Colozzi also presented survivors of both officers with books, signed by the nearly two thousand people who bought the webkinz.
